A Step Forward for D.C.’s Homeless Vets
Yesterday, our advocacy team joined other participants in The Way Home campaign to hear about Mayor Gray’s 2015 budget proposal … and what measures could be put in place to address chronic homelessness in the District.
We knew the Mayor had committed to ending veterans homelessness in D.C. several times recently. But until we saw the budget, we wouldn’t know what kind of resources the city might have to meet that goal.
Imagine our excitement to learn that the mayor has proposed $4.7 million towards meeting the Federal goal of ending veterans homelessness by 2015! On behalf of our guests and campaign partners, we’re very motivated to work together and see this goal through!
I encourage everyone to visit The Way Home Campaign’s blog to learn more about this exciting development, and how we all can collaborate to make sure the mayor’s proposal comes to life. As a community, we have a historic opportunity to create real change in D.C.
