How Do Our Guests Enjoy the Same Ingredients as the First Family?
Each week, there’s an air of anticipation at Miriam’s Kitchen, as we await the generous donations that come in from local farms and farmers markets. And the donations that generate the most excitement are those from just eight blocks away at the White House Garden.
Since 2009, Miriam’s Kitchen has been the primary beneficiary of the White House Garden’s donations. Our guests have enjoyed fresh spinach, greens, pumpkins, and even honey harvested from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Imagine: our guests have enjoyed the very same ingredients that have been served to the First Family, and to visiting dignitaries at State Dinners.
Last week, our kitchen staff were invited to take a behind the scenes tour of the White House Garden. They even had an audience with the first dogs, Bo and Sunny!
Want to see more of the great donations we get from the White House? There’s only one way to see them: volunteer for a shift in our kitchen or dining room!
