- 7 seniors move into their first home in years
- Our new video showing how MK, with your support, is #MoreThanAMeal is coming soon
- Be our guest – for breakfast on 7/14 or at a happy hour on 7/26
Moving from homelessness to homes of their own
Roger signs his lease while MK Case Manager Malika cheers him on.
Do you see that smile on Malika’s face? Last week Malika smiled like that seven times as seven seniors who had been experiencing homelessness signed their leases at the Girard Street Senior Apartments. It was a joyful and exciting time, and all seven seniors were WOWED by how beautiful the building is. Thank you for making it all possible. We look forward to updating you with more photos and stories as these residents settle into their new homes. You can read more about the partnership that made housing seven people in one week possible in the press release and also watch a video of my remarks.
#MoreThanAMeal video is on its way!
EMIC Films wrapped up their filming last week as they visited Waldon at his home. They took some great footage and were awed by all the medals that Waldon has racked up since being housed. Now they are putting the finishing touches on the new video and we hope you’ll be awed, too, when we unveil it in the coming weeks. We’re just thrilled to have EMIC Films produce a new pro-bono video that shines a light on the many ways–from meals to housing–MK works to end long-term homelessness in the District.
Visit here for more behind the scenes footage and stay tuned for our big release.
Be our guest – for a breakfast tour on 7/14 or a happy hour on 7/26
We’re so grateful for your support and that you trust us to be good stewards of your investment. Please come to a Behind the Scenes Breakfast Tour on Thursday, July 14 at 8:00am so we can report back to you on all the progress made thus far toward ending chronic homelessness in Washington, DC. Jenn Roccanti, our Chief Performance Officer, can’t wait to give you an informative update and also a yummy breakfast! RSVP to email@example.com
On Tuesday, July 26, come join our MK chefs and volunteers for a special evening of drinks and fun at the rooftop lounge at Liaison. It’s the perfect spot for a summer happy hour, a great way to get to know us better, AND a portion of the proceeds will support MK. What could be better? I hope to see you there!
Thank you for partnering with us and for helping seven seniors to move into their own homes. This was a week we won’t soon forget.
