MK Leadership Council

LC Clean Up Crew (600x398)The research is clear—chronic homelessness has a high human and financial cost. Permanent Supportive Housing is a proven intervention that couples affordable housing and supportive services—providing the stability needed for people to recover at a much lower cost than letting someone remain homeless.

The private sector has a critical role to play in increasing awareness that ending chronic homelessness in DC is not just the right thing to do, but is the smart, cost-effective thing to do. Additionally, by championing and investing in the end of chronic homelessness in the District, we are building a stronger community where businesses can thrive.

The Miriam’s Kitchen Leadership Council is composed of senior executives driven to meet this purpose by investing financially in Miriam’s Kitchen; introducing Miriam’s Kitchen to new private sector partners; and recruiting new partners to promote Miriam’s Kitchen through their networks, marketing/media efforts, and events. Ultimately these efforts increase Miriam’s Kitchen’s name recognition and brand as an essential leader in the efforts to end chronic homelessness in DC, as well as our ability to secure necessary funds that support our high-quality programs—from meals to housing.

The strategies that have brought us to the cusp of ending veteran homelessness in DC need to be scaled so that instances of homelessness are rare, brief and non-recurring for all individuals. The leaders on this council can not only ensure that we cross the finish line of ending chronic homelessness in DC, but actually accelerate the rate at which do so.
