Restaurant Week for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

WASHINGTON, DC – After decades of service and millions of meals prepared, the kitchen of Miriam’s Kitchen is getting a face-lift thanks to pro-bono support from Hickok Cole, DPR and Hospitality Construction. While the kitchen is temporarily closed from September 26 to October 7, Miriam’s Kitchen will hold a Restaurant Week featuring local area restaurants for its guests experiencing homelessness.

“We thought hosting a Restaurant Week would be a fun way for our guests to try foods from local restaurants that they might not otherwise get to enjoy,” said Ashley Lawson, Director of Corporate Partnerships at Miriam’s Kitchen. “We are so grateful that our food partners, including the National Restaurant Association and Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington, saw this as a unique opportunity to support Miriam’s Kitchen and our guests.”

Helping to kick off MK’s Restaurant Week is Upper Crust Pizzeria. “We are proud to be a part of this community and happy to support Miriam’s Kitchen and their important work to end chronic homelessness in our nation’s capital,” said Shawn Shenefield, Director of Operations at Upper Crust Pizzeria.
